1. Students must be at levels where they can perform. 2. Reasonable goals must be set. 3. Students must be guided and motivated. 4. Learning must be measurable. 5. Learning must be rewarded.
Whether the student is a high achiever or a moderately-paced learner, our educational process proceeds at the level of the child’s ability.
Individualization makes it possible for each student to master the subject before moving on. Such mastery is the foundation upon which all future learning is built. Individualization produces academic excellence. Students are guided from one lesson to the next in a way that teaches personal responsibility, study habits, and character traits, which prepares them to welcome and accept challenges and future opportunities that come their way.
TheAssociation of Christian Schools International (ACSI), founded in 1978, is an association of evangelical protestant Christian schools. Its stated mission is to strengthen Christian schools and equip Christian educators worldwide. The association offers multiple services including accreditation for early-education programs, primary and secondary schools, certification, curriculum, legal/legislative services, and urban school services.
Lighthouse International School accepts students of all race, age, and gender. Even though we are primarily a school for the foreign community of Gunsan City, special allowances are possible for Korean children who have a working knowledge of English.
As space in each grade level is limited, families are encouraged to apply for admission as soon as possible, normally during the preceding school year. Typically, the student turnover rate at the end of each academic year is approximately twenty percent.
· Applicants must meet LIS academic and behavioral standards. Their previous academic history and admissions testing must indicate that they can achieve at a level comparable to LIS students.
· Applicants requiring the assistance of an ESL program will be enrolled on a space-available basis after a personal interview and testing. Only those students who can reasonably be expected to function on grade level in English within 24 calendar months will be considered for enrollment.
· Each student must complete a diagnostic evaluation to determine their level of academic achievement. Curriculum will be individualized based upon the diagnostic scores.

Records and Testing
Progress Reports Academic records are maintained based on tests and grades and a Progress Report (Report Card) is prepared and sent to the parent at the end of each semester.
Transcripts and Enrollment Verification LIS maintains a permanent school record for each student. Official transcripts are sent to schools and colleges as requested. Enrollment verification is also provided as needed.
End-of-Year Standardized Testing The Stanford 10/OLSAT 8 is a complete academic evaluation. When the two tests are taken together, the scores are a valuable tool, relating a student’s actual achievement with his or her school ability. Norm-referenced scores enable you to compare your student’s achievement with that of students of similar age, grade, and academic aptitude.
